How I've Grown

Since I've started college I believe I've grown. I've grown more as  a person. Before college I only talked to people I knew, but not I'm able to sit next to someone I don't kow and have a conversation with them. I've learned that I can do more things on my own and be responsible. It's nice not having to tell my parents everything I do now because I know that i'll make good decisions while having fun.

I've grown but I still do somethings the same. Studying in college is a lot harder than high school and its harder to keep my grades up. I never had to study in high school so I need to change that so I can exceed in college.

Though I don't study enough, I do know that there are tutors and learning teams that can help me. I've also learned the more your envolved, the more you'll have fun. There are so many little things I've learned through the Hixson class that I will carry with me for the rest of my college years and my life. Im glad that I got to be apart of the Hixson program.

Hixson Award

The Hixson award, for me, was something I thought I had no chance of getting. Though there weren't many people attending Iowa State, I thought my chances were slim to none. I knew I had to pay for college so I decided to fill the application out anyways.

I never really knew about the Hixson award until my high school counselor told me about it. She said that I have a very good chance of gettting it. So I wrote an essay and fill out the rest of the application and sent it in not thinking that I would get it.

After receiving the letter in the mail about getting the award I was so happy and proud of myself for getting it. The scholarship helped me out finacially so that I can be successful in my life. The scholarship means a lot and has lighten my cost for college.
